Founded in 2011, iSimulate provides medical simulation technology that makes it easier, simpler and more cost-effective to train health professionals.
iSimulate is the brainchild of Dr Anthony Lewis and Peter Mckie. During their attendance at an advanced life support (ALS) course, both realised they had a similar idea to help improve the fidelity of simulation education and reduce the financial barriers to opening ALS training centres. They formed iSimulate and launched their first system in 2012 at the International Meeting on Simulation and Healthcare.
iSimulate products are used in hospitals, universities and private training organisations in 38 countries, and the company’s clients include Cambridge University, the German Red Cross and UCLA. Its technology is being used by the American Association of Emergency Medicine for practice certification testing, and will soon be taken up by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
In 2015–16, year-on-year export sales increased 121 per cent and now represent 82 per cent of the company’s total annual revenue. This export revenue growth has been achieved through extensive tradeshow participation, journal advertising, strategic partnerships, targeted sponsorship and visits to organisations throughout the world.
iSimulate's most successful sales campaign to date, with an increase of 60 per cent, was a targeted campaign to health training organisations. 2016 has been its most significant year yet, with two new simulation systems in their final stages of launch, a significant increase in permanent staff members and the opening of a new office in New Zealand.
Judges highlighted that iSimulate has found a clear point of differentiation in a field of growing demand. The company has grown in a measured and focused way while remaining responsive in meeting their customer needs.
