In 25 years, the Cutting Edge Group has grown from a three-person operation to one of Australia’s largest content creation businesses with 600 employees and facilities in four locations.
The Group includes Cutting Edge, e-Learning Company, Cutting Edge Technical Services, Campaign Edge and Oculus Productions. Together, they offer content creation for advertising; corporate videos; e-learning courses; and post-production and visual effects for advertising, film and television.
In 2015–16 the Cutting Edge Group completed work on eight international feature films including The Shallows and Thor: Ragnarok; six television series from the US, UK, Germany, and Spain; and delivered more than 20 television commercials for international clients such as Kia and Toyota. Other leading production studios the Group has worked with include Dentsu Inc., Disney, HBO, Lakeshore Entertainment, Sony Entertainment and Warner Bros. Studios.
Forty per cent of its 2015–16 sales came from overseas markets – a 22 per cent increase on the previous year – where it has partnerships with American, European, Chinese and Japanese organisations.
A new studio in Tokyo, Japan has helped Cutting Edge secure more projects across Asia, particularly in China. The Tokyo team includes business development and production specialists, and is uniquely placed to secure diverse projects, including feature films and television commercials, for the Australian studios.
The judges commended Cutting Edge’s focus on continual improvement, innovating and investment in R&D to keep ahead and cementing their place as global leaders in the field, and most certainly unsurpassed in Australia.
