Formed in 2005 from a merger between Incat Designs and Crowther Multihulls, Incat Crowther is a naval architecture and engineering services company that designs specialised ships.
More than 102 Incat Crowther–designed vessels are currently under construction around the world, estimated to be worth more than $400 million. These include fast and comfortable passenger vessels, defence vessels, offshore wind farm service vessels, high-speed workboats, luxury motor yachts as well as unique and complex technical vessels servicing the oil and gas industry.
The business has grown from 12 to 50 employees and has established offices in the UK and US to service international markets. The company’s services include vessel design, naval architecture and engineering services, production documentation, technical consultation, tender submission support, construction supervision and vessel procurement.
Incat Crowther continues to develop and deploy innovative solutions in response to the complex technical challenges. The company is at the forefront of using catamaran hull forms in large offshore vessels; the evolution of robust and high-capacity monohull crew vessels; and fuel-efficient low-wash passenger vessels, including those with hybrid drive.
In 2015–16, export sales represented 79 per cent of Incat Crowther’s total annual revenue. Incat Crowther continues to grow due to its robust business model, a dedicated management team that owns the business, competent and motivated employees and a focus on innovative designs and customer service.
Judges were impressed by Incat Crowther’s impressive performance in a competitive market place through identifying a niche product offering, and not relying on a particular client segment or geographical region.
