Nuix started in the year 2000, when a group of computer scientists got together with an idea – a processing engine for unstructured data – the New Universal Intelligence eXchange (NUIX). The company now employs more than 350 people worldwide, with offices in Sydney, San Francisco, Washington DC, Philadelphia, London and Cork (Ireland).
Nuix solutions are built on the patented Nuix Engine – a data-processing platform engineered in Australia that rapidly collects, processes, searches and finds facts inside very large volumes of data. Nuix Engine enables people involved in solving complex data challenges to master the facts with clarity, speed and intelligence.
Over the past five years, the company has attracted and retained a global team of subject matter experts and world-class practitioners in the fields of digital investigations, information security, information management, endpoint software and intelligence. These experts advise Nuix's customers and guide its product development.
The company now has more than 1,500 customers in over 60 countries, including many of the world’s leading financial institutions, corporations and government departments, all major global regulatory agencies, leading security and law enforcement agencies and all tier-one advisory firms and litigation support vendors.
One of these clients is the US Securities and Exchange Commission, which uses a Nuix application for processing, and metadata and text extraction for its growing volume of electronic investigation data. The United Nations Cybersecurity Agency also uses Nuix’s technology to enhance the forensic capabilities of its National Computer Incident Response Teams.
Since its commercialisation in 2006, Nuix has grown exponentially, recording 60 per cent growth in 2015.
Judges described Nuix’s growth as ‘phenomenal’, citing it as an excellent example of an Australian company exporting intellectual capital in a technically and economically complex global market.
