Plants Management Australia Pty Ltd (TAS)

The introduction of plant breeders’ rights in Australia was the catalyst for establishing Plants Management Australia Pty. Ltd. (PMA). Founded in 1992, the company specialises in the licensing, marketing and intellectual property protection of new plant varieties. In 2014–15, PMA derived 15 per cent of its annual sales revenue from intellectual property exports, and increased foreign revenue by 17 per cent. It introduced 24 new products onto the global horticultural market. In 2014, a PMA–managed lavender varietal was named Plant of the Year at Australia’s prestigious Nursery and Garden Industry Awards.
