Sentek Technologies (SA)

The search for a better way to monitor soil moisture and manage irrigation in South Australia’s Riverland region led to the founding of Sentek Technologies. Established in 1991, the company developed the concept of continuous soil moisture monitoring of the entire soil profile. To date, 20 hardware and software products servicing the irrigated agriculture, wastewater management, research, mining and environmental industries have been commercialised. The resolution, accuracy and quality of its technology for measuring and analysing soil moisture, salinity and temperature has seen export revenue increase to 87 per cent of Sentek’s total revenue in 2014–15. Sentek’s clients include thousands of growers of over 100 crop types, China's Meteorological Administration and the US National Ecological Observatory Network.
