The Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education at the University of Queensland (ICTE-UQ) is a multi-faceted English language training, testing, teacher training and continuing education centre. Their turnover was $26 million in 2010.
They specialise in customised training and teach over 6,000 people each year. ICTE-UQ is the leading Australian education services provider for the Japanese market, with almost 2,000 Japanese participants last year. The ICTE-UQ team also administered more than 15,000 English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests.
Their differentiated ‘Power of Partnership’ strategy resulted in more than 3,000 participants from more than 100 partner institutions, and contributed $8.4 million to export earnings in the last financial year.
In 2011, ICTE-UQ celebrates 30 years of excellence. The institute also plays a role in marketing Brisbane and Queensland as a destination for study through the thousands of alumni who have studied there in the last three decades.
The Export Award judges were impressed by ICTE-UQ’s innovation in marketing to deal with the Asian economic crisis, particularly in their primary market of Japan.
