49th Australian Export Award Winners (2011)
The 49th Australian Export Awards were presented at a gala event at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday 8 December 2011.
Twelve companies were recognised for their exporting success in agribusiness, arts and entertainment, education and training, minerals and energy, services and manufacturing.
Trade Minister Craig Emerson hosted the event. He said the wide range and high calibre of the winning group reflected the depth and diversity of the Australian economy.
"Australia is a vibrant, competitive economy which owes its good reputation in the world to its entrepreneurs, business people and investors," Dr Emerson said.
"Many of the winners gained an edge on their competitors by developing or adopting new technology, especially in the field of clean energy."
"Other companies have shown how the identification of niche markets and focus on meeting their unique demands can magnify comparative advantage," he said.
Together, the 75 national finalists contributed $5.6 billion in export earnings to the Australian economy, and employed more than 10,000 people.
The 49th Awards was co-presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
