Innovative men’s swimwear and underwear company aussieBum hosted an Australian Export Award Workplace Presentation on 15 December 2009 at their Leichardt office in Sydney.
The company won the Small to Medium Manufacturer Award at the National Award Ceremony in Canberra in November 2009, and this Presentation was an opportunity to share that accolade with their staff.
Presenting the Winner’s Certificate to co-owners Sean Ashby and Guyon Holland, local Federal MP, Minister Albanese said aussieBum was a fantastic example of Australian values and dedication.
The Minister, along with representatives from sponsor Commonwealth Bank and Austrade, toured the offices – including the film production studio and despatch areas, and enjoyed a morning tea with the staff. They were also shown how the company can design and release a product within seven days – a proficiency that was commended by the Australian Export Award judges. The visitors were also shown a number of new products, including underwear made from banana fibre and Merino wool. It was this product innovation that was also key to aussieBum winning in their category, along with its excellent financial management – the company is debt-free and owns all assets outright.
